Unexpected 17It was almost the last day of the cruise. One more sleep and I would be saying goodbye to Kevin, Nick, and Joe - the people who had influenced me to be a better person in such a short time. I woke up and looked over to the bed beside mine to see Kevin's dark brown curly hair sticking out from the top of his crisp white sheets. I slowly snuck out of bed and lightly sat down beside him. I carefully tugged on one of his perfect curls then pulled the blanket down, "Wake up, sleepyhead. I want to spend as much time with you as I can today." He slowly opened his eyes and smiled and asked me to go save us a table for brunch in the dining hall. I walUnexpected 17
Unexpected 16We danced and laughed and joked until the sun began to show over the endless ocean. Joe and Nick had left to sleep hours earlier only stopping us for a moment to say goodnight. We were sitting at the table when Kevin nudged me, I looked at him with my eyebrows raised, wondering what he was planning. He smiled, "Follow me." I smiled in return but was suspicious and followed him out the doors. He came up behind me, "Close your eyes." I did what he said and felt his hands cover my eyes as he said, "Just to make sure you don't cheat." I laughed and he nudged me forward, after a minute or so, I felt his hands leave my eyes and fall down to my handUnexpected 16
Unexpected 15We sat at the table ocassionally speaking throughout the meal. It was the most perfect and romantic night I'd ever had and I was so ecstatic that I got to spend it with Kevin. Sometimes one of us would brush our legs against the other's, but it felt normal. There wasn't any awkward tension, it was just pure enjoyment and was completely natural. I had never felt that way with anyone in a very long time, and it felt so right. He caught me staring at him while smiling, "What? Is there something on my face?" He had the cutest worried face. We headed down the deck towards the front of the ship as I was looking around searching for a sign of his surprise. We were heading towards the dining hall and just like the night that we had first had our serious talk, there was barely anyone up on deck. I spoke up, "There's no one out here again."
